On the eve of the Bundesliga trip to face Hannover 96, Ottmar Hitzfeld picks from close on a full squad as four injured players reported fit, although one regular has gone onto the sick list. Five of the FCB squad were unavailable for Thursday's trip to Aberdeen in the UEFA Cup, but the situation has improved dramatically in the meantime.
Willy Sagnol (rested), Mark van Bommel (knee), Oliver Kahn and Daniel van Buyten (both flu) are all fit and will return to the matchday squad, Hitzfeld announced after training in Munich on Friday.
Demichelis out for two weeks
"Van Bommel is still feeling some pain,“ Hitzfeld reported, although the Dutchman is expected to feature in Sunday's clash, as is cpatain and keeper Olli Kahn, "provided he doesn't suffer a reaction.“ The experienced duo came through Friday training unscathed, as did Daniel van Buyten, a likely starter at the AWD Arena.
The Belgian is the obvious contender to deputise for Martin Demichelis, who returned from Aberdeen nursing a torn calf muscle and is likely to be out of action for two weeks. On a more positive note, Franck Ribéry is making good progress towards a comeback, and could well be available for the return against Aberdeen at the Allianz Arena next Thursday.
