With just three minutes to go at the Allianz Arena on Sunday, frustration and disappointment were the dominant emotions. Bayern had loosed off more than 30 shots at the Borussia Dortmund goal and created a dozen first-class chances, but the match remained stubbornly deadlocked at 1-1. However, Jürgen Klinsmann’s side still had an ace or two up its sleeve.
Mark van Bommel launched a diagonal ball into the Dortmund box, BVB defender Felipe Santana could only partially clear, and the ball fell kindly for Miroslav Klose. The hitman finally succeeded where he had failed on at least five occasions earlier in the match, and put one past Roman Weidenfeller in the Borussia goal.
