Bayern can no longer defend the DFB Cup after defeat to Bayer Leverkusen at the quarter-final stage in midweek, but two trophies are still very much up for grabs. An the aftermath of the disappointment in Düsseldorf, the FCB camp has pledged to band together and pool its reserves of energy, with the priority on a return to winning ways in the bread-and-butter of the league.

After just one victory in their last five matches, the champions entertain Hannover 96 on Saturday (Live in English from 3.15 pm on Web Radio) in what has become a must-win fixture in the quest for a 22nd domestic league title.

“We have to win on Saturday. We have a debt to repay to our fans. We have to stabilise our performances in the league, and focus on hitting our targets,” said Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, calling for maximum points against the 12th-placed visitors from Lower Saxony. “I remain convinced we have a very good chance of defending the league title.”
