In the last eight days, Bayern have beaten Hannover 5-1, Sporting Lisbon 7-1, and VfL Bochum 3-0, a fine series of three wins with 15 goals for and only two against. "It's been an impressive comeback," commented Karl-Heinz Rummenigge after Saturday's routine victory in Bochum, where "the three-goal margin was fair too," said Jürgen Klinsmann. "It's been a good week for the club," the chairman summarised.
All this has been achieved without the injured Franck Ribéry, Luca Toni, Hamit Altintop and Tim Borowski. "Hannover, Sporting, and Bochum have all been fantastic team performances. The team showed real character," Klinsmann enthused, "we've brilliantly compensated for the missing players."
