Two days ahead of Bayern’s crucial Bundesliga meeting with struggling Karlsruhe, Luca Toni has been ruled out of Saturday’s Allianz Arena clash. “We have to be patient for a little while longer,” Jürgen Klinsmann informed fcbayern.de.
The overall situation regarding Toni, who has not played for three weeks with an Achilles tendon injury, was “not bad”, the Bayern boss reported. “The injury is a lot better, but it’s still not 100 percent gone.” Toni again missed the squad training session on Thursday, completing a few laps of the practice ground instead. The potent hitman has also withdrawn from the Italy squad for next week’s 2010 World Cup qualifiers.
Meanwhile, Franck Ribéry has prompted “an outbreak of joy” at the Säbener Strasse, according to Klinsmann. The French star, laid up with a shin injury for the last two weeks, resumed the squad schedule three days ago, and now cannot wait for Saturday’s league fixture, the coach revealed. “He’s completely fit again and desperate to play,” Klinsmann confirmed.
