After a two and a half day break, the Bayern squad returned to work on Tuesday afternoon. Coach Jürgen Klinsmann gathered his men at the Säbener Strasse performance centre to begin preparations for Saturday’s Bundesliga fixture at home to Schalke 04.
Tuesday’s group included four of the six players who missed the weekend win away to Bielefeld with injury. Zé Roberto, Breno, Lukas Podolski and Massimo Oddo resumed the squad programme, but neither Michael Rensing (torn right index finger tendon) nor long-term absentee Miroslav Klose is yet fit enough to train as normal.

Nicely in time for the run-in to the end of the campaign, the injury situation at the club lying second in the standings is showing strong signs of improving. Six Bundesliga matchdays remain in the last four and a half weeks of the campaign, after which Bayern will either have retained the league title, or the shield will have passed to one of Wolfsburg, Hamburg, Berlin or Stuttgart.
