Jürgen Klinsmann’s departure from the club late on Monday morning simultaneously marked the start of Bayern’s search to appoint a new coach for next season and beyond. Just hours after the board of directors resolved to part company with the former Germany coach, the management team declared the hunt for a new boss open.
“We’ll think long and hard in the coming weeks, hold talks, and then unveil an appropriate solution after consulting with the supervisory board,” Karl-Heinz Rummenigge announced at a specially convened news conference. The Bayern chairman confirmed that the appointments of Jupp Heynckes and Hermann Gerland “would only cover the next four weeks, i.e. the next five matches.”
