Rummenigge: Victory over Schalke a must

On Friday, Jürgen Klinsmann repeated a manoeuvre he first deployed ahead of the home meeting with Eintracht Frankfurt, bringing forward the final pre-match training session from 4 pm to midday. "It gives us more time to talk to the players and prepare them physically," the coach explained. Bayern beat the men from Frankfurt 4-0 in their last home match, and followed that up with last week's 1-0 win in Bielefeld.

Ahead of the crunch fixture against Schalke 04 at the Allianz Arena on Saturday (Live in English from 3.15 pm on Web Radio) Klinsmann again summoned his men to work out in the late morning. However, there was no real need for long and intensive conversations with the players, the coach commented: "We all know what's at stake. We're entering the do-or-die weeks, and we have to take as close as possible to maximum points.“

On the eve of Matchday 29, Bayern are three points behind leaders VfL Wolfsburg, who travel to Cottbus on Sunday, and level on points with Hamburg, who are also away from home in Dortmund. "The current position in the table tells its own story. It means there can be only one result for Bayern on Saturday – a victory!" chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge urged. "We'll do everything we can to achieve it – maybe even more than everything," promised captain Mark van Bommel.
