Smiles were back on Bayern faces at a squad photoshoot on Monday. Two days after a bitter 2-1 defeat away to promoted Mainz, a match in which Mario Gomez reckoned Munich were “taught a lesson” in the first half, the FCB coaches and players made their way to the famous Nockherberg inn after morning training, posing in Lederhosen for club partner Paulaner breweries.
At the shoot, the stars focused their gaze on the camera lens, but with the club 14th in the Bundesliga standings on two points after three league matches without a win, the players have already set their sights on higher targets. “We’re looking ahead and ahead only,” said Hamit Altintop, substituted after just 33 minutes of a “catastrophic first half” in Mainz. Hamit said FCB were determined to make amends when champions VfL Wolfsburg visit Munich this Saturday: “It’s a vital match for us. We want to send out a signal.”
