A potentially satisfactory autumn looks an increasingly realistic prospect at Bayern, after FCB made it five wins on the spin in all competitions with a supremely comfortable 5-0 DFB Cup second round victory over Rot-Weiss Oberhausen on Tuesday. With a place in the last sixteen secure, the men from Munich now approach crunch meetings with Hamburg and Juventus in confident mood.
“A clear-cut, dominant win and a place in the next round was important today. As of now, we’re concentrating on the Bundesliga,” said captain Philipp Lahm after the match in front of a 40,000 crowd at the Allianz Arena. Second division RWO held their own for a half-hour, before unlucky defender Daniel Embers turned Lahm’s 32nd-minute cross-cum-shot into his own net, and the match pursued its expected course.
