On Matchday 9 in the Bundesliga, Bayern ended the goal drought and winless series which had plagued them for three games, travelling to promoted SC Freiburg and chalking up a victory which was far more comfortable than the 2-1 scoreline might suggest. “I’m very happy,” Louis van Gaal said afterwards, although the coach declared himself “extremely angry” about the home side’s stoppage-time consolation.
Louis van Gaal: “I’m very happy. We controlled the game in the first half and they hardly had any chances. We dominated after half-time, but unfortunately we failed to score a goal of our own. I was extremely angry about conceding at the end. That should never have been allowed to happen. However, all in all, I’m pleased with my team’s performance."
