A goal for Christmas?

Ivica keen for Danijel to break scoring duck

It could be a wonderful Christmas for the Olic family, with snow, presents, and Santa Claus with a real beard. Dad Ivica Olic has set about ensuring the latter, placing a bet with team-mate Danijel Pranjic: If Pranjic fails to score in the four matches before the winter break, he will have to get into costume and bring gifts for Olic’s kids Luka, Antonio and Lara. Danijel has visibly begun work on the beard.

However, Olic would much rather his fellow Croat nixed the bet by scoring before the festive season. A fake beard would do the job just as well, and a goal would do Pranjic good after a tough settling in period in Munich. “I told him to put over more crosses and shoot more often,” revealed Olic, advice which paid off on Sunday: Pranjic sent over an inch-perfect curling ball for Olic to nod the second goal in Hannover. “The assist will be important for his confidence,” said Olic, “I hope it helps him come on.”
