Comeback – at last

Ribéry returns from 112-day lay-off

Bayern have returned to the top of the Bundesliga, until Sunday evening at least, and Franck Ribéry has finally returned to action in the German top flight. The Munich camp had a number of reasons to be pleased following Saturday afternoon’s entirely merited 3-2 victory away to long-term rivals Werder Bremen.

Naturally enough, the man with the most to celebrate was superstar Ribéry. The Frenchman last appeared in a competitive match in Bayern’s goalless draw against FC Köln on 3 October. After a protracted lay-off lasting fully 112 days, his long-awaited comeback finally arrived in Bremen when he replaced Ivica Olic after 68 minutes. His best moment came shortly before the end with a first-time left-foot effort.
