Van Gaal: The victory was hard-earned

With Saturday’s 3-1 victory over Borussia Dortmund, Bayern made it a dozen wins on the bounce in all competitions, although the Bavarians came up a goal short of dislodging Bayer Leverkusen from the top of the Bundesliga standings. Louis van Gaal was nevertheless satisfied with his men, as he felt the win over a tactically disciplined Dortmund side was “hard-earned. I’m delighted we’ve won."

Reaction to Bayern v Dortmund:

Louis van Gaal: “I think it was a hard-earned victory. It was very difficult and we enjoyed the better of the luck, but you could argue we earned it. We went behind but fought our way back into the match, and in the second half, we put together good moves leading to the goals. I’m delighted and satisfied about winning, because Dortmund did very well tactically and were extremely aggressive. We made a number of individual errors in defence, and that mustn’t happen against Fiorentina in midweek. We also need much better organisation throughout the team.“
