With the crunch DFB Cup semi-final against Schalke just three days away, the injury situation at Bayern has shown signs of improvement. Daniel van Buyten, who was forced out of the action on 80 minutes of the 2-1 defeat to Frankfurt on Saturday, has been given the all-clear after being diagnosed with nothing more serious than facial bruising. The Belgian is sporting a black eye, but is not in danger of missing the cup showdown in Gelsenkirchen.
Franck Ribéry and Ivica Olic may also be fit in time to feature in the battle for a place in the cup final. Ribéry, sidelined for the last two matches with an ankle injury, is expected to resume the squad training programme on Monday. The same applies to Olic, a late withdrawal from the Frankfurt trip after bruising a calf in the final pre-match training workout.
There was also positive news of Mario Gomez on Sunday. Some two weeks after rupturing a muscle in his calf, the Germany international has been cleared to go running on Monday. Martin Demichelis is already a step ahead, as the Argentine defender completed the first part of the squad session on Sunday. Micho hopes to resume the full programme after the midweek cup tie.
