Three days after surgery on a troublesome groin, Franck Ribéry called by the Säbener Strasse facility on Monday. The Frenchman greeted his team-mates and met with head coach Louis van Gaal to finalise his recuperation plan following Friday’s operation. The 27-year-old will now not be required to report for the second phase of Bayern’s pre-season training programme on 15 July.
Instead, Ribéry will resume the squad schedule after the club’s official training camp in Trentino from 19-24 July. In a change to the player’s original plan, he will remain in Munich for a week so that doctors can monitor the wound left behind by the surgical procedure. He will commence his three-week holiday after that, following a sports rehabilitation programme devised for him by the FCB physiotherapists.
Ribéry will continue sports rehab training at the Säbener Strasse from 25 July onwards, and is expected to be fit for the start of the new Bundesliga campaign in late August.
