Double reunion for Mario

Gomez fired up for twin Stuttgart encounters

Mario Gomez is 25, but he has very rarely played for a team opposing VfB Stuttgart. On the last occasion but one, he was 15 and a member of the SSV Ulm side which crashed 7-0. A couple of months later he had joined Stuttgart and stayed there for eight years, before switching to Bayern in 2009. His most recent game against VfB was just over a year ago in October 2009 – and it ended goalless.

That means Gomez‘ personal record against Stuttgart features no wins and no goals, but he is determined to change all that in the next few days. The striker and his Bayern team-mates round off the first half of the season with a double-header away to his former club, Sunday’s 17th fixture in the Bundesliga, and a DFB Cup Round of 16 tie next Wednesday.
