Kroos out until new year

Midfielder at ‘serious risk’ of metatarsal break

Bayern midfielder Toni Kroos has been ruled out of the last two matches prior to the mid-season break. The 20-year-old has an injury to his left foot, and is in danger of sustaining a stress fracture of the metatarsal, FCB chief medical officer Dr Hans-Wilhelm Müller-Wohlfahrt reported after examining the player on Monday evening.

In the aftermath of Saturday’s 3-0 victory over St. Pauli, Kroos complained of pain in the injured foot. Müller-Wohlfahrt’s diagnosed a serious risk of a broken metatarsal and has ordered the player to rest the foot completely. The Germany international will now be in plaster until 23 December, before a further check-up and decision on a course of treatment.

Kroos, who has appeared in every one of Bayern’s competitive fixtures this season, chalking up two goals and seven assists, will miss the final Bundesliga encounter of the calendar year away to VfB Stuttgart on Sunday, and the DFB Cup Round of 16 tie on the same ground against the same opponents three days later.
