The Champions League is arguably the world’s elite football competition, featuring the best players and clubs in Europe. To play in it would be the crowning glory of many a career, but for Thomas Kraft, the Champions League marks the beginning of his journey in the pro game. He made his senior debut for Bayern in Rome two weeks ago, and is set for a second appearance against Basel on Wednesday.

Krfat has yet to appear in the Bundesliga or the DFB Cup, but he is delighted at being offered another chance on Europe’s biggest stage. “I’m thrilled about playing,” the 22-year-old confirmed, “it’s an excellent opportunity for me to show I have what it takes.” His personal sights are set higher than merely filling in once in a while: “I want to play as often as possible.”
