Reaction to Bayer v Bayern

Nerlinger: We’re deeply disappointed

Not for the first time in the second half of the season, an away trip ended in disappointment for Bayern, as the men from Munich fell 2-0 against Bayer 04 Leverkusen on Saturday afternoon. “Today, we won’t be talking about winning the title,” declared Christian Nerlinger. While not writing off Bayern’s Bundesliga chances, the FCB director of sport called on the team “somehow to get a grip on our weakness away from home.”

Reaction to Bayer v Bayern:

Christian Nerlinger: “We’re deeply disappointed. In the first half, we made enough chances for three games. We have to take one of those chances, it would have completely changed the course of the match. We were too impatient in the second half, we wanted to win it by force. We lost our shape and gave Leverkusen space to counter attack – which they did twice. There can be no complaints today about our determination and desire. Today, we won’t be talking about winning the league. I’m not writing off the title, but it’s not something which need concern us now. Somehow, we have to get a grip on our weakness away from home.”
