Swiss champs primed for ‘game of the century’

The Basel camp is bursting with confidence ahead of Tuesday's Champions League clash with Bayern, and no wonder: the Swiss FCB lead 1-0 from the first leg, are unbeaten away from home in Europe this term, and have not lost for almost seven months in their domestic league. The visitors’ pre-match press conference was an appropriately relaxed affair, although there was no mistaking the underdogs' steely intent..

“Courage is a fitting word for this match," said Heiko Vogel. The former Bayern youth coach, who stepped up to the hot seat in Basel in October last year, said courage could be “the decisive factor, for both sides." The late winner in the first leg meant his team were “starting from a good position, but we know we can take nothing for granted. We’re aware Bayern will come at us even more ferociously than in the first match. Our attitude is very respectful and humble."
