Italy win FCB Youth Cup - Usami to Hoffenheim

The final of the FC Bayern Youth Cup took place at the Allianz Arena on Thursday. Five teams of youths aged 14 to 16, invited to the tournament in Munich by FC Bayern partners adidas, Audi, Lufthansa, Trentino, UniCredit and Yingli Solar, put on a thrilling show for the sun-drenched crowd of around 800, mainly comprising school kids. The eight-a-side teams all played each other once in a 20-minute match. By the end, Italy just edged out Austria on goal difference, with China, Germany and India filling the places from third to fifth.

Usami in loan move to Hoffenheim
Prior to kick-off in the friendly against the Netherlands on Tuesday evening, Bayern officially said farewell to Takashi Usami, but there will in fact be a reunion with the 20-year-old Japan junior international in the new season. Usami is to stay in the Bundesliga with Hoffenheim, after the club from the Kraichgau region emulated FCB in the 2011/12 campaign and signed Takashi on a one-season loan from J-League club Gamba Osaka. “We’re looking forward to having him with us,” said Hoffenheim boss and former Munich stalwart Markus Babbel.
