Neuer keen to crown ‘a good season’

Manuel Neuer came away from last season's DFB Cup final with a host of fine memories and valuable souvenirs, including pictures of wild celebrations in the dressing room, inspiring mental images, and most importantly of all, a winner's medal. Schalke's victory over Duisburg was the first major triumph of his career, and represented a superb way to bid farewell to his boyhood club. “It was a very special experience," he said on Wednesday, three days before he returns with Bayern to the scene of last season's triumph. Neuer is the only player involved on Saturday capable of coming away with back-to-back cup victories.

“We'll go there with positive feelings," said the keeper, who joined Bayern last summer. And, continued the 26-year-old, his upbeat mood was not simply due to last year's triumph. “We played well there against Hertha [when Bayern won 6–0], and Bayern beat Dortmund there in the cup final not so long ago." Neuer, Bayern and Berlin looks a promising combination.
