Thomas Müller rounded off a good Bundesliga season for Bayern with a moment of true genius on Saturday. After Rafinha had nutmegged Köln skipper Pedro Geromel and crossed from the right, Müller artistically netted Bayern's fourth with a cheeky backheel. It was a beauty, and surely a goal of the month contender.
“The ball bobbled on a molehill, hit me on the heel, and landed in the net by chance," the scorer said afterwards in typically sardonic fashion. Thomas, who has seven goals so far this season, then turned serious: “The angle was right to take it with the heel, and it's even better when those go in."
Müller had already added his name to the scoresheet with the opening goal after 34 minutes. His strike with five minutes to play was his 32nd in 106 Bundesliga appearances, taking him past Roque Santa Cruz and Jürgen Klinsmann (31 each) in the all-time FCB scoring chart.
