Stars safely home from China

The Bayern squad and coaching staff are safely back in Munich. The Lufthansa charter bearing the FCB party landed in Munich approximately an hour later than scheduled just after 8 am on Friday morning. The team brought with them two trophies after winning both tour matches in Beijing and Guangzhou. The club’s groundbreaking five-day tour of China thus came to an end. Prior to take-off from Guangzhou, coach Jupp Heynckes offered a positive summary: “Taking the week as a whole, we can be very satisfied. We contested two very intensive matches and we trained well. However, we're all now looking forward to going home." At the airport, the boss dismissed his men for the day, ordering them to report for the next training session at 11 am on Saturday morning.

FCB All Stars: goalscoring debut for Butt
Local club FC Sportfreunde München are headquartered less than 100 metres away from FC Bayern on Munich's Säbener Strasse. The two clubs contested a match on Thursday evening: the FCB All Stars veterans’ team visited their neighbours to mark the junior club’s centenary, with the former stars winning the match 5-1. Jörg Butt made a sparkling debut for the veterans’ team – as a striker! The former Bundesliga and Germany keeper struck a brace for FCB before half-time. In the second half, Michael Tarnat and Sören Osterland (2) added to the All Stars’ total. After the final whistle, Bayern and the Sportfreunde raised a glass to good neighbourliness over a barbecue.
