FCB ‘feeling good’ about Regensburg trip

For new signings Xherdan Shaqiri, Dante, Claudio Pizarro and nine other stars, the last 48 days have been long and punishing. For Philipp Lahm and his fellow German internationals, the time span was slightly shorter at 29 days. But on the 49th and 30th days respectively, the 2012/13 pre-season period comes to an end and the serious business begins. Bayern travel to promoted second division club SSV Jahn Regensburg in the DFB Cup first round on Monday evening (Live in English from 8.30 pm CET on Web radio) looking to start the new campaign on a winning note. “Victory would give us a boost for the championship - and we’re going there to win," boss Jupp Heynckes confidently stated.

The 67-year-old believes his players are in a perfect state of readiness. “We've put last season behind us once and for all. We've restored our energy and motivation and we're aiming at new targets," he said. The first of those is a place in the second round of the cup. “The DFB Cup is one of the trophies we want to win," declared vice-captain Bastian Schweinsteiger. “I have a very good feeling," said Arjen Robben.
