The long wait is over, and the league action is set to start again following the longest close season of all time, as Bayern contest their first Bundesliga fixture of the new campaign on Saturday. A full 112 days after their last top flight outing in Cologne, coach Jupp Heynckes’ men are determined to win away to promoted Greuther Fürth (Live in English from 3.15 pp CET on FCB.tv Web Radio) and make a perfect start to the domestic campaign.
“We're delighted it's starting up again," confirmed Heynckes prior to his side’s final pre-match training session on Friday, although the boss agreed that the club was “practically up and running again" after matches in the Supercup and DFB Cup over the last two weeks. Nevertheless, said the seasoned coach, he was “filled with anticipation and excitement" ahead of the 50th top-flight season in general, and the opener in Fürth in particular.
