‘The start I wanted’

Champions League at last for magic Mandzu

Mario Mandzukic has made a dream start to his career at Bayern with six goals in his first five matches, a record unmatched by any previous new arrival in Munich. “Obviously I'm very pleased. I always believed in myself, and this is the start I wanted," said the striker prior to the next milestone in his career. On Wednesday, and provided he is picked, he will make his Champions League debut.

“I'm really looking forward to it," the player said on Sunday. He contested a total of 14 matches in Champions League qualifying with Dynamo Zagreb, and helped himself to seven goals, but his ex-club never made it through to the group stage. Now he is at Bayern, his time has surely come.
