Record signing Javier Martinez featured for 13 minutes against Stuttgart and 15 minutes against Mainz, chalking up a first assist on Saturday. The Spaniard is settling in well, “although he’s still in the acclimatisation phase," commented Jupp Heynckes. However, the 24-year-old reckons he feels more and more “like being at home" with every passing day, as he told fcbayern.de.
On Wednesday, FCB face Spanish opposition in the shape of Valencia, the visitors to the Allianz Arena for the opening Champions League fixture. We took the opportunity for a brief chat with Martinez, who has already faced Valencia on the field of play 12 times. His personal record reads four wins, two draws and six defeats, although the last time his former club Bilbao beat Valencia, a 3-2 victory in January 2009, Javi added his name to the scoresheet.
Interview: Javi Martinez
fcbayern.de: Javi, you've been in Munich for nearly three weeks now. How are you feeling at the moment?
Javi Martinez: Very good, thank you. People here are making it easy for me and I'm very happy. It almost feels like being at home, everyone's very nice.
