The first truly gruelling phase of the 2012/13 campaign, with seven games in three weeks, is coming to an end. Bayern have slipped just once, in the unlucky 3-1 midweek Champions League defeat away to BATE Borisov, but have otherwise won every match. The Bundesliga leaders entertain TSG Hoffenheim on Saturday (Live in English from 3.30 pm CET on FCB.tv Web Radio) looking to maintain or extend their advantage in the table prior to the two-week international break.
“It’s important we build up a head of steam against Hoffenheim, give it everything – and win,” urged chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge. Three points against the side lying ninth in the standings would mean Bayern setting a new record for the best start to a Bundesliga season. In the league’s 49 previous seasons, only three clubs have won their first seven games, FCB being one of them. However, no team has also had such a good goal difference at this point in the season.
