Claudio Pizarro's second starting appearance of term was hardly a breeze or a simple job. Due to a muscular imbalance, he was unable to train with the squad, or if he did, he was restricted to a limited training programme. He also suffers the worse jetlag and travel conditions of any of the FCB squad when he takes on international commitments with Peru. Most recently, in Sunday's unlucky defeat to Leverkusen, he twice hit the goal frame. Unsurprisingly, an evening like the DFB Cup clash with Kaiserslautern is a real tonic. Pizza delivered two goals, and laid on his club’s other two strikes.
“It was very good and naturally I’m extremely satisfied," said the striker, who previously wore Bayern colours from 2001 to 2007 and returned to Munich in the summer. “I still lack a little match practice," he admitted, but two days prior to his 34th birthday, the goal getter says he feels physically fit. He handed himself an early birthday present against Kaiserslautern with the 11th minute opener, and a header to make it 3-0 on 58 minutes.
