Confident but wary

Robben raring to go, but in no mood to rush

The training session was officially over, but Arjen Robben was still hard at work, putting his already muscular body through a session of push-ups. The Dutch ace, who has only made ten appearances for FCB so far this term due to injury, feels fit and is raring to go. “I'm in good shape," he told on Thursday, “it's not been a nice season for me so far, but at last I'm a full member of the team again."

In the first two days of the Doha training camp, the 28-year-old has made a terrific impression and looks very much his old self. The winger is free of pain, but given his past history with injury, remains cautious by nature. “The problems in the first half of the season appeared overnight, so I'm very, very wary," he admitted.

When he looks back over the season to date, Arjen comes across as puzzled and even slightly lost for words: “I basically made a good start and had a superb pre-season in Trentino," he recalled. But four excellent performances in Bayern's early matches suddenly gave way to misery, as Robben was sidelined by aches and pains, all ultimately originating in his back. “It was very uncomfortable," he confessed.
