“All we finally want to do is prove again just who…" Thomas Müller checked himself just in time. No-one in the Bayern camp is interested in gifting the tabloids their provocative headlines with any unwise pre-match verbals in the build-up to the crunch DFB Cup quarter-final showdown against Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday evening. Instead, the policy is one of respect and humility, “because we know what Dortmund are capable of, and how much they've hurt us recently." Nevertheless, given Bayern's sparkling form since the winter break, Müller and his team-mates can approach the encounter with last season's double winners in confident mood.
“We reckon we're strong, we're in fantastic shape, and obviously we'd like to win again," Thomas ended up saying, “Dortmund are coming at just the right time." A win at the Allianz Arena would simultaneously eliminate “our biggest rivals" in the cup, the forward continued. And Toni Kroos, who like Müller was rested at the weekend against Bremen – “a farsighted and good idea," the midfielder said – is also expecting opponents who are “basically our equals."
