Five famous names from FCB history – Christian Nerlinger, Mario Basler, Ruggiero Rizzitelli, Alexander Zickler and Lothar Matthaus – appeared on the scoresheet after Fortuna Düsseldorf’s most recent match in Munich, a clash at the venerable Olympic Stadium on 26 April 1997. Just short of 16 years have passed since then, but Fortuna finally returned to the Bundesliga last summer and visit the Allianz Arena for the first time on Saturday (Live in English from 3.30 pm CET on Web Radio).

That match back in the 1990s ended 5-0 to Bayern, and the reverse fixture in Düsseldorf last autumn produced the same result. “They clearly showed up our limitations," recalled Fortuna boss Norbert Meier. However, there is no reason for the league leaders not to take Saturday’s visitors seriously, as Fortuna have defied pre-season expectations and lie a very respectable 12th in the standings. “The key thing is to maintain our edge, keep our concentration, and remain motivated for the match," urged FCB chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge.
