Saturday’s 2-1 victory over Bayer Leverkusen means Bayern have taken another step closer to reclaiming the German championship. The nation’s most successful club lead the Bundesliga standings by 20 points – and with eight league fixtures remaining, there are only 24 more points to play for, so the Reds rate as odds-on favourites for the title.
fcbayern.de has pulled out the trusty abacus and worked out how and when FCB can claim the championship shield.
Regardless of their rivals’ results, FC Bayern will be crowned champions if they win two more Bundesliga matches.
The shield could theoretically return to Munich on the next matchday (Easter Saturday, 30 March), should second-placed Dortmund not win away to Stuttgart and FCB beat Hamburg in the evening.
However, regardless of the precise date when Philipp Lahm and Co mathematically seal the title, what matters is that Jupp Heynckes’ side are top of the table after the 34th and final match.
