Heynckes: Two magical nights of football

Bring on Barça! In the last four of this season’s Champions League, Bayern take on the favourites, who won the trophy in 2011 and 2009. "It’s a clash of the titans in the elite European competition," commented Jupp Heynckes. Manuel Neuer described the pairing as "a real cracker" and a match "worthy of the final.” Karl-Heinz Rummenigge said he was looking forward to “two truly interesting matches."

Reaction to the semi-final draw:

Karl-Heinz Rummenigge: “I'm very happy with the draw. Barça are favourites to win the Champions League, they're the benchmark in Europe. They're the best club in Europe in terms of continuity and quality. It'll be a lot more difficult than in Turin. We'll see two truly interesting matches, and it's a wonderful opportunity to prove that Bayern Munich have become a lot better since 2009. I regard the fact that the first game is in Munich as a minor advantage. We have people with inside knowledge in our dugout, there's no German who knows Spanish football better than Jupp Heynckes. Lionel Messi is the best player in the world. You can't get better than a four-time world player of the year. Neutralising his threat is a labour of Hercules. We know it'll be unbelievably tough.”

Jan-Christian Dreesen: “It's a very special match-up, against the background of Pep Guardiola coming to us for the new season. We're in good shape and need hide from no-one.”
