Bayern are through to the last four of the Champions League for the third time in four seasons after battling their way to a 2-0 away victory over an initially lively Juventus in Turin, sealing an aggregate 4-0 triumph and a place in Friday’s semi-final draw. “I’m delighted about scoring, but I’m even more delighted we’re through,” said Mario Mandzukic, whose 64th-minute opener set FCB on their way to victory.
Reaction to Juventus v Bayern
Matthias Sammer: “We’re very pleased about progressing to the next round. We said before the match we wanted to come here and win.”
Jupp Heynckes: “We're through to the semi-finals after beating a great team, strong opponents. It was incredibly enjoyable playing here in such a modern stadium in this atmosphere. We expected Juve to apply pressure at the start. We gave away the ball too often and we weren't well organised in defence, which is why we ran into trouble from time to time. But little by little we took control of the game. We showed all our class in the second half, when we never looked in trouble, so it's a deserved victory.”
