Schweinsteiger fit to face Barcelona

The Bayern squad returned from Saturday’s trip to Hannover having equalled the record number of points for a Bundesliga season, but even more significantly at this stage, with no new injury problems to report. As usual on the day after a game, the squad was divided into separate groups for training. Some players took to the exercise bikes, while a run was on the schedule for Thomas Müller, Manuel Neuer and Mario Mandzukic, who is close to a full recovery from a hamstring problem. The players who did not start the Hannover clash completed a punishing workout on the practice ground, where they were joined by Bastian Schweinsteiger, who has shaken off a minor ankle injury and will in all probability be fit to face Barcelona on Tuesday.

Kassai to ref first leg
Viktor Kassai of Hungary has been named as referee for the Champions League semi-final first leg between Bayern and Barcelona. The 37-year-old has taken charge of three matches involving Bayern in the past, all of which ended well for the newly-crowned Bundesliga champions. Kassai was the ref for last season’s semi-final return in Madrid, where Bayern sealed a place in the final on penalties. The FIFA referee also officiated in FCB’s 2-0 group stage victory over Manchester City the previous season, and in the Round of 16 first leg meeting away to Inter Milan in February 2011, when the Bavarians won 1-0.
