Munich all set for title celebrations

From Franz Beckenbauer to Oliver Kahn, some 22 FCB legends will be present, together with typically Bavarian show acts, 71,000 fans, the new home shirt and the championship shield, all components of a major title party in Munich. “FC Bayern wird zum FC Feiern," quipped Karl-Heinz Rummenigge in rhyming style: FC Bayern will become FC Party, following Saturday’s Bundesliga meeting with FC Augsburg (Live in English from 3.30 pm CET on Web radio).

The shield will be presented at around 5.30 pm, ushering in the kind of celebrations that have been missing in the Bavarian capital since mid-2010. Gallons of perfectly good Weissbier will be showered over anyone within range, before the stars set off by motorcade to the city centre Marienplatz and the gathering of the team, the coaching staff and the management team on the Town Hall balcony. The players will spend the evening and doubtless the early hours of the morning at a private party.
