Tourists clicked away with their cameras and posed for group shots. A group of toddlers on scooters negotiated a set of cones. A little further away, learner bikers used the vast parking areas to hone their riding skills. A guy on a park bench strummed away at his guitar. Two days prior to the DFB Cup final, it was definitely business as usual at Berlin Olympic Stadium.
At first glance, the only hint of the upcoming event were the vast green and white banners in DFB colours hanging on the stadium walls. Flags fluttered in the wind on the stadium roof, flanked by the red-and-white of the two finalists. But looking a little more closely, you noticed the trucks regularly driving through the main gates, guarded over by the famous Olympic rings.
