We’re into the countdown: next Monday, Pep Guardiola will be officially unveiled as Bayern coach at a major press conference. The players report back for training on Wednesday, with a programme of warm-up friendly matches to follow. One of the pre-season highlights is the Audi Cup at the Allianz Arena on 31 July and 1 August, featuring Bayern, Manchester City, AC Milan and FC São Paulo. If you’ve not booked your ticket yet, now’s the time to do so!
It will be a festival of football, as FC Bayern board member for sport Matthias Sammer remarked: “AC Milan, Manchester City, and FC São Paulo are the kind of opponents you desperately want in pre-season. And Pep Guardiola will be able to see where his team stands a week before the Bundesliga restart on 7 August.“
FCB face São Paulo in second semi
The line-up for the semi-finals has now been finalised, with Manchester City taking on nine-time European Cup winners AC Milan at 6.15 pm in the opening match at the tournament. After the game, at a kick-off time of 8.30 pm, Bundesliga, DFB Cup and Champions League winners Bayern make their first appearance when they face FC São Paulo.
City, as the English footballing world invariably calls the club, will bring their cast of stars including Carlos Tévez, Sergio Agüero, Yaya Touré and keeper Joe Hart. AC Milan boast Mario Balotelli, Kevin-Prince Boateng and Stephan El Shaarawi in their ranks. And FC São Paulo add a touch of Brazilian flair to the proceedings.
