After a triumphant 2012/13 and a well-deserved summer break, the Bayern stars return to work on Wednesday! Pep Guardiola takes charge of his team for the first time in the first training session of the new season, starting at 5 pm CET at the Allianz Arena (live on FCB.tv, in German). In the build-up to the big restart, fcbayern.de presents seven key questions and answers as the treble winners ease into the new campaign.
How many players will be there?
More than half the squad are available, including the Germany internationals and Franck Ribéry. New arrival Jan Kirchhoff is set to take part, with Mitchell Weiser also rejoining the squad after a six-month loan to Kaiserslautern. Mario Götze (ruptured muscle) and Holger Badstuber (cruciate) are injured. Bastian Schweinsteiger had surgery on a foot injury three weeks ago and will be restricted to light training. The absentees comprise Confederations Cup participants Dante, Luiz Gustavo and Javi Martinez, and the players who were away on international duty in early June. They will all return to Munich in the course of next week.
These 16 stars will feature in Wednesday's training session:
Lahm, Neuer, Ribéry, Müller, Kroos, Gomez, Boateng, Rafinha, Contento, Kirchhoff, Starke, Can, Weiser, Raeder, Weihrauch, Hojbjerg.
