Götze and Badstuber leave Riva for home

Bastian Schweinsteiger returned to Munich on Sunday, and fellow injury roster members Mario Götze and Holger Badstuber have now joined the midfielder in leaving Bayern’s summer training camp in Riva del Garda. The players and sports rehab coach Thomas Wilhelmi will set off for home following the treble winners’ friendly against Italian second-division outfit Brescia Calcio on Tuesday evening.

Götze will report for a planned MRI scan on Wednesday, checking the condition of the muscle group he ruptured back in May. “The hamstring feels much, much better,“ Götze told on Tuesday afternoon. The 21-year-old has made good progress in his recovery from the problematic injury over the last few days, and is now hoping to begin a programme of stamina-building running very soon.
