FC Bayern and the club’s new online world have collected a first prestigious award! In the ‘Champions League of Websites 2013/14’, a ranking of the internet and mobile offerings of all 32 Champions League contenders, the treble winners’ online presence has been placed top with 96 points out of 100. The FCB website was followed home by Arsenal (95) and Atlético Madrid (94) in the study, initiated by Spanish organisation Departamento de Internet. Key factors in our online world’s success were the Responsive Design feature, optimising the website display on a variety of user devices (including PCs, notebooks, tablets and smartphones), and the close integration with social media. FC Schalke 04 were the second-best German club in 14th, with Bayer Leverkusen in 18th and Borussia Dortmund in 29th place.
Date set for 2013 Annual General Meeting
This year’s FC Bayern München Annual General Meeting will take place on 13 November, the members’ club executive committee comprising president Uli Hoeneß, senior vice-president Karl Hopfner and vice-president Rudolf Schels announced on Wednesday. The meeting at the AUDI Dome opens at 7 pm CET.
Joint favourites City and Bayern in lockstep
In an exact mirror of Bayern’s Matchday 1 result, Manchester City opened their Champions League Group D campaign with a 3–0 victory. In the fixture away to Czech Republic outfit Viktoria Plzen, the Blues dominated throughout and emerged as deserved winners. The Premier League side easily won the first-half shot count 10–2, with Sergio Agüero hitting a post after 26 minutes, but the game remained goalless at the break. City, without former Bayern defender Martin Demichelis due to a knee injury, settled the outcome in the space of 11 second-half minutes: Edin Dzeko (48), Yaya Touré (54) and Agüero (58) scored the goals which see Munich and the Blues go dead level at the top of the section.
