Schweinsteiger and Robben back in action

There are four days to go until the next match at the Allianz Arena, but Bastian Schweinsteiger remains a doubt for the Bundesliga match against Hannover 96 due to injury. However, the Germany midfielder is recovering well!  On Tuesday morning the FCB vice-captain returned to the main training pitch, where he was last seen before the Super Cup showdown with Chelsea one and a half weeks ago.

The midfield star trained at the Säbener Strasse under Pep Guardiola and with the rest of the team for about 30 minutes. Following that, he switched back to work on his fitness, working out with specialist coach Andreas Kornmayer for 45 minutes. Endurance, sprints and coordination routines were on the to-do-list.

Robben fit again

Both Arjen Robben and Daniel van Buyten resumed squad training on Tuesday. The big defender returned early from international duty because Belgium have no match on Tuesday evening. Robben collected a second yellow card while playing for the Netherlands in Friday’s World Cup qualifier against Estonia, and is therefore suspended against Andorra on Tuesday evening. Instead, Bayern’s winger is preparing for Saturday’s match against Hannover in Munich.

”It’s a very important game, and we have to win,” Robben said after Tuesday’s training session. The Dutchman expects it to be a “difficult“ task, because the international break will have interrupted the players’ rhythm, so “we will have to work hard in the couple of days we have.” Robben has fully recovered from a knee injury suffered in the Super Cup in Prague. “Everything’s fine again. I just had to take it easy for a couple of days,” he said.

In the meantime, Mario Mandzukic completed a full training session on Tuesday. The Croat declined to join his national team on the energy-sapping trip to South Korea for a friendly. He should be on fire on Saturday against Hannover.
