Reaction to Bayern v Plzen

Boss: We’ve put ourselves in a good position

Bayern played glorious football at times on Wednesday night, combining slickly, creating chance after chance, and ultimately cruising to a 5-0 victory – the Allianz Arena crowd paid tribute to the display against Viktoria Plzen with a standing ovation. Pep Guardiola said he was “pleased, because we played well.” In the return in the Czech Republic two weeks from now, FCB can “take a giant stride” towards the knockout stages. Toni Kroos commented: “Out there on the field, we really enjoy keeping on going for goal even when we’re 3-0 up. Slowly but surely, we can plan for the last sixteen.”

Reaction to Bayern v Viktoria Plzen:

Uli Hoeneß: “Our team has been on an amazing roll in recent weeks – and today we saw a continuation of that.”

Pep Guardiola: “I’m pleased because we played well. We have nine points and we’re in a good position to make the next round. We can take a giant stride in Plzen two weeks from now.”

Arjen Robben: “We played well, but Plzen didn’t make it hard for us. We’ll soon face more difficult opponents.”

Toni Kroos: “We did a good job very comfortably, but we don’t measure ourselves against the likes of Plzen. Out there on the field, we really enjoy keeping on going for goal even when we’re 3-0 up. Slowly but surely, we can plan for the last sixteen.”

Pavel Vrba (Viktoria Pilsen coach): “We’ve come up against a world-class team today. It was hard for us today and we’re very disappointed. My players never got into the game. We barely made it into our opponents’ half.”
