Bayern have suffered a major blow in the build-up to Saturday’s Bundesliga showdown away to Borussia Dortmund on the news of an injury to Franck Ribery. The European Footballer of the Year sustained a partial fracture of the tenth rib wile representing France in the decisive World Cup qualifying play-off against Ukraine on Tuesday and is definitely out of the top-of-the-table clash with BVB. The 30-year-old is also rated doubtful for next Wednesday’s Champions League Group D trip to CSKA Moscow.
“I’m obviously gutted, because I was desperate to play in the big game in Dortmund. But I’m sure the team can do it without me this time,” commented Ribéry as the leaders prepare to face their closest rivals at Signal Iduna Park. The France superstar joins an injury roster at FCB also including Bastian Schweinsteiger, Claudio Pizarro, Xherdan Shaqiri and Holger Badstuber.
