Thiago: That’s Bayern

Bayern were a goal down at half-time in Stuttgart on Wednesday night but turned the game on its head thanks to a dream stoppage time winner. “That’s Bayern Munich,“ declared last-gasp hero Thiago after the final whistle, “we kept trying for the win right to the end.” Captain Philipp Lahm praised the team’s resilience: “We weren’t as determined as usual in the first half. But after half-time we showed we’re capable of great patience and of scoring goals at just the right time.”

Reaction to Stuttgart v Bayern:

Pep Guardiola: “We played well, the first half included. But it’s difficult to keep your concentration up at all times. At the end of the day we’ve extended our lead, so we’re happy.“

Philipp Lahm: “We saw a lot of the ball in the first half but weren’t as determined as usual. After half-time we showed we’re capable of great patience and scoring goals at just the right time. Stuttgart played well. They gave away very little at the back, and we hardly had any chance of getting in behind them. We never produced the killer passes. We changed things around a bit for the second half and we improved. All our opponents want to be the first to beat us.“

Thiago: “That’s Bayern Munich. We kept trying for the win right to the end. Stuttgart made it tough for us. It was an opportunity to move even further clear of our rivals, and we’ve taken it. There’s always a bit of luck when you score a wonderful goal like that.“

Thomas Schneider (Stuttgart coach): “We genuinely played well. Bayern had more possession but we had the clear-cut chances and we deserved at least a point. We kept it very tight, we defended well, we never shirked a challenge and we were always passionate. We didn’t let them have many chances, but unfortunately we gave them one too many.“

Konstantin Rausch (Stuttgart): “I still can’t really believe it. We played really well, it was a determined team performance and we were outstanding in defence. It was beginning to feel like a win, but at the end of the day we’re left with absolutely nothing.“
