Müller sidelined with pulled hamstring

Thomas Müller was in sparkling form against Hannover on Sunday with a crucial double strike, but the Germany international will now be forced to the sidelines for a short time.  The versatile striker pulled a hamstring in his right thigh in the course of the clash in Lower Saxony, FCB Chief Medical Officer Hans-Wilhelm Müller-Wohlfahrt announced after examining the player on Monday. Müller has been ordered to rest for the next five days before resuming light training. The 24-year-old is definitely out of Saturday’s home meeting with Schalke 04.

Ribéry and Shaqiri on course

Of the other players on the injury roster, Franck Ribéry and Xherdan Shaqiri are both closing in on comebacks. The UEFA Best Player in Europe completed a double workout including a series of sprints on Monday, supervised by sports rehab coach Thomas Wilhelmi. Swiss international Shaqiri is also making good progress. Nine days after sustaining a torn muscle against Freiburg, Shaq is set to resume the normal squad training programme later this week.
