Confidence-booster for United

Manchester United put a results crisis behind them on Saturday with a convincing English Premier League victory. Three days prior to meeting FCB at Old Trafford in the Champions League quarter-final first leg, David Moyes’ men defeated Aston Villa 4-1 on their home patch. The Man of the Match accolade went to Wayne Rooney for his brace on 20 and 45 minutes, turning the match on its head after Ashley Westwood handed Villa a 13th-minute lead with a free-kick. In the second half Juan Mata (57) and sub Javier Hernandez (90) increased the margin of victory for United, although the Red Devils looked vulnerable at the back on several occasions.

Manchester United line-up against Aston Villa: de Gea - Rafael (Carrick 46), Jones, Vidic, Büttner - Fellaini, Fletcher, Young - Mata, Kagawa (Januzaj 68), Rooney (Hernandez 75)
